The Dufur School District 29 Board of Directors opened its June meeting with an awards ceremony honoring students across grade levels. Speaker 1 introduced and congratulated honorees including Henley Weaver (elementary), Finley Weager (kindergarten), Jackson Kate (5th grade) and 12th-grade honoree Isabel Shaw, and thanked staff who organized awards and photographs.
Principal Kristen Wheeling and other staff highlighted district scholarship support alongside student recognition. Wheeling noted strong community support at awards night and told the board the Ranger Pride Education Foundation and the Jerry Walker endowment together awarded significant scholarships this year. "Ranger Pride Education Foundation gave out almost a $100,000 in scholarships," Wheeling said. The ceremony concluded with an invitation to the public to remain for the regular meeting.
