Council adopts Ordinance 36126 to expand emergency-preparedness committee membership

A committee representative said the committee needed more members to handle workload and suggested allowing one member from Lincoln County (outside city limits) to serve because volunteers regularly come from neighboring communities. "We have 4 people versus 5. 5 is what we've been approved," the committee member said while urging an increase in membership to seven to cover event needs and operational workload.
Council moved for second reading by title only and then held the second reading for Ordinance 36126. A motion to adopt the ordinance was made and seconded; the council approved the ordinance by voice vote. The ordinance will be effective after the required 30-day waiting period before enactment and staff will bring applications to the appropriate committee for appointment.
