The Taylor County School Board approved the appointment of Mark Lundy as the district’s threat management coordinator effective Sept. 1, 2026. Board members asked staff about the timing—members noted state training schedules—and staff said the appointee’s formal training is scheduled for September, which will delay some state-level naming until completion of those sessions.
A staff representative explained the state’s training windows and reporting requirements, noting that although Lundy could be appointed earlier, the formal designation in state systems occurs after training. "He would not get that training until September," a staff member said, adding that existing staff will continue necessary duties and reporting until the appointee completes training.
The motion to appoint Lundy was moved, seconded and carried by the board.
