The Enid City Commission filled several volunteer board vacancies, hearing brief statements from applicants and recording votes.
Mary Kate Reading (who said her name is pronounced like 'reading a book') was appointed to the Public Arts Commission; the vote was recorded 7-0. Margo Holmes, a retired Enid Public Library employee, was appointed to the Library Board with a 6-1 vote. The commission also approved appointments to the Meadowlake Golf Course advisory board; Thomas Fry, an experienced golf-course superintendent who moved from Los Angeles, received unanimous support for his appointment.
Mayor Mason reminded applicants of service expectations and meeting schedules and encouraged continued applications to city boards.
