The Enid City Commission recognized Police Chief Bridal Skaggs for 37 years of service and presented him with a commemorative photo, challenge coins and a key to the city.
Mayor Mason thanked Chief Skaggs for leadership during events including the recent tornado response and for programs the chief started, including a quick DNA initiative that the mayor said will help solve crimes in the future. Skaggs, speaking briefly, said, “It’s been an honor to serve this community for 37 years.”
The commission then administered the oath of office to the new chief, identified in the transcript as Nick. The new chief told the commission he has worked in the department 22 years and said staffing stands “at about 94,” with plans for hiring to bring the department to 100 officers. “I’m truly humbled and honored to be the chief of police of the Enid Police Department,” he said.
