County supervisor reports ribbon cutting, power-plant tour and youth academy

Pacheco also described a recent tour of the Mount Diablo nuclear power plant in San Luis Obispo, calling it "a very cool facility" and encouraging public tours.
On the plant, Pacheco said, "They generate 18,000 gigawatts annually," and added in the record that the plant provides about 9% of California's energy and powers roughly 4,000,000 Californians. Those figures reflect his statement to the council. He also noted the plant has managed nuclear waste storage capacity roughly the size of a football field and has operated since the mid-1980s.
Pacheco highlighted a sheriff's explorer academy attended by Livingston youth that includes firearms and arrest-law training and noted a graduation scheduled for Saturday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m. at UC Merced.
