COVES updates: landscape mapping, Perigee Foundation award and legislative pilot for coordinated intake

Beth Green, director of the Center for Coordinating Oregon Home Visiting Systems (COVES) at Portland State, briefed the council on progress since COVES launched and highlighted three areas of work: a landscape opportunity map, emergent family leadership and tribal peer learning groups, and funding/fiscal work.
Green announced that a regional Perigee Foundation 'Building Together' grant application — developed in partnership with a metro Perinatal Collaborative — was funded (one of eight nationwide). She said the grant largely supports regional partners, culturally specific organizations, and professional development in infant mental health: “We were 1 of 8 in the country that was funded,” Green told the council.
Green also described an ongoing legislative concept, with council member support, to pilot a coordinated intake and single point of contact for home visiting in an urban location to simplify referrals and improve family access. She said the COVES team is preparing an opportunity map that will identify where coordinated intake, governance and family leadership are strongest and where regions need state guidance. The council unanimously approved a motion to let COVES seek funding and contract for fiscal mapping to advance these priorities.
