Edmonston council adjourns into closed session to consider Ward 1 candidates

Mayor Tracy R. Gant called the Town of Edmonston work session to order at 6:09 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2026. Council Member Betsy McCauley moved that the council adjourn into a closed session "to discuss candidates for the vacant Ward 1 Council Member position," a motion seconded by Council Member John Johnson; the meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
Council Member Sarah Turberville, Town Administrator Rod Barnes, Town Clerk Averi Gray and Police Chief Eric Beale were listed as present on the teleconference. The minutes state the council would not return to the public work session after the closed session. The minutes are attested by Town Clerk Averi Gray and Mayor Tracy R. Gant.
