Mayor Tracy R. Gant and the Town Council reviewed concept designs for a neighborhood park at 51st & Decatur prepared by Dr. Deni Ruggeri’s landscape class at the University of Maryland as part of the PALS (Partnership for Action Learning in Sustainability) program. Town staff said the PALS students will attend upcoming town events to gather resident input on park elements.
The council agreed to move forward with placing a $10,000 contribution to the UMD PALS program on a future meeting agenda for a vote. Administrator Rod Barnes indicated the contribution would support design and community outreach; the council did not record a final vote at the work session. Dr. Ruggeri and the UMD class will participate in town events to solicit resident feedback before the council takes formal action.
