Because the damaged office also functions as the district preschool office, administrators raised a plan to reallocate part of an $80,000 preschool infrastructure grant (which requires a dollar-for-dollar match) toward upgrades such as a pass-through window, a secured countertop entry, and an additional buzzer to control building access. The administration said the reallocation would be limited to items required by new legislation and to improvements that reduce future risk to preschool operations.
Board members asked staff to coordinate with the insurance adjuster and to present a prioritized scope and cost estimate at a follow-up meeting; no final reallocation was approved at the first reading.
