Select Board approves surrymaine.gov as new town website domain

At the July 1 meeting the Select Board approved switching the town website to surrymaine.gov following a public comment from Kathy Tracy. The board moved and passed the domain change unanimously.
Kathy Tracy told the Select Board the town is moving its website to a .gov domain and recommended the shorter surrymaine.gov rather than a longer address. The board voted to approve use of surrymaine.gov; the motion was made by Chris Stark and seconded by Nick Noddin and passed unanimously.
The board noted the domain change had been started by a previous employee and a former Select Board member but was never completed; staff will proceed with the domain change and related website transition work. No timeline or costs for the migration were provided at the meeting.
