Dune City council adopts short-term rental ordinance after public comment; one abstention

The council moved to the adoption of Ordinance 2-56b, an amendment to the city's code governing short-term rentals. The Chair read the ordinance title and explained that prior steps had been completed and that the council could adopt by title in a single meeting with a unanimous vote of those present, unless a member requested full reading.
During the public comment portion, Jeanie Jackson identified herself and told the council she continued to be concerned about short-term rentals and said she and others had seen multiple unpermitted units on Ford Way. "My name is Jeanie Jackson... I continue to be concerned for all the people that have been concerned about them," she said. Council members noted past discussions and two recent amendments (transfer timeframe change and a to-be-determined item) were included in the ordinance language.
The council conducted the required voice/roll votes for first and final readings. The roll-call/voice procedure recorded one abstention by Council member Melissa Stimson; otherwise the ayes carried and the ordinance was enacted, effective immediately. Staff will record the ordinance change and apply the updated short-term rental regulations going forward.
