Gardens Corner makeover pitched as a major FY26 landscaping project

Chris Campbell, who led the presentation, said the packet would fund planters along 2,700 feet of berm, grape myrtles for the planters, a flagpole in the central circle, and finishing work at Joe Frazier Circle. "We're only gonna do a makeover on the whole thing... For the planters, we'll just do grape myrtles," Campbell said. He added that the county currently performs some maintenance but that the project would require coordination with DOT and county maintenance resources.
The committee discussed whether maintenance costs are included and asked staff to clarify long-term maintenance responsibilities if the county approves capital funds. Members approved moving the $90,000 request forward to the county CFO; the request is advisory and will be reviewed by county finance.
The committee recorded a related FY26 motion for other beautification work and asked staff to reconcile spreadsheet amounts and supporting estimates before submission.
