Doug Cunningham, chair of the county's Industrial Development Board (IDB), briefed the commission on July 21 about recent economic-development wins and ongoing site work.
Cunningham said the 100,800-square-foot spec building at Runway Center was sold to Stella Jones, which "will invest over $45,000,000 in equipment and renovations and create 229 new jobs." He also described $3.5 million state site-development grants that supported the project and said the IDB has paid off a related note early.
The IDB chair reported the board has moved a confidential "Project Flow" into due diligence; the company has 90 days to complete assessment for a 250,000-square-foot pad-ready site, with a boundary survey recorded once the deal finalizes. Cunningham said an announcement could come as early as early October if the assessment succeeds.
Cunningham also outlined TDOT'coordinated work on Horizon Park, with engineering and environmental work expected in 2026, right-of-way and utility relocations in 2027, and road construction in 2028''9; TDOT is designing the road at no cost to the county. He noted remaining small lots at other parks and ongoing grant-supported infrastructure investments.
