County approves human services and aging agreements, $77,359 in local awards to action committee and others

At its July 1 meeting, the Carbon County Board of Commissioners approved a package of human services and aging-related actions. The board approved an extension to the 2025-2026 State Food Purchase Program with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for June 30 ' September 30, 2026 (agenda #26-479), and approved a Homeless Assistance Program letter of agreement with the Carbon County Action Committee for $27,359 for July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 (agenda #26-480).
Separately, the board approved a Human Services Development Fund agreement with the Action Committee for $50,000 (agenda #26-481). The Agency on Aging renewal agreements were approved to continue personal care and home support services at a new rate of $21.56/hour (up from $20.92/hour) for the term July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029 (agenda #26-486). The board also approved an agreement to hire Yvonne Tarchak as SHARE Housing Counselor at $23.74/hour not to exceed $47,754 annually (agenda #26-489). All motions passed unanimously.
