Carbon County approves applications for $2.1M DOJ tower-equipment grant and other public-safety funding

The board unanimously authorized submission of a U.S. Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services Technology and Equipment Program (COPS/TEP) grant application requesting $2,100,000 to secure P25-compliant tower site equipment for five sites (agenda item #26-474). Commissioner Rocky C. Ahner moved to approve the application and Vice-Chairman Wayne E. Nothstein seconded; the motion carried by unanimous poll.
In related action, the board approved submission of a Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) Byrne Justice Assistance Grant application requesting $250,000 to acquire P25-compliant radio equipment for county law enforcement (agenda #26-475). The Sheriff's Office separately sought a COPS/TEP grant for Sheriff's Office Toughbook devices requesting $60,000 (agenda #26-485); that application was also authorized. The agenda entries list requested amounts and intended equipment or devices for each grant request.
