Police Jury honors Mike Danahey for 26 years of public service

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury presented a framed certificate and medal to Mike Danahey at its July 23 meeting in recognition of his 26 years of public service. S2 introduced Danahey’s long record of service — noting he began as a police officer, served in the state House representing District 33, and spent the last nine years as mayor of Sulphur — and invited jurors to offer remarks.

Several jurors offered personal tributes before the presentation. Mike Danahey accepted the award and thanked the jury and the community. "This is very rewarding, and I'm very humbled by this, this award," he said, then recalled emergency-response work after Hurricane Rita and noted the community's trust in elected officials. His wife, Daphne, was noted as present during the recognition.
