City manager says staff pressed Comcast on construction, repair and safety; PNM told to speed streetlight repairs

In his report the city manager updated the governing body on recent meetings with Comcast and PNM. He said the city met with local and regional Comcast staff to press concerns about construction practices, communication and the timeliness of repair and restoration work and that the city may request a work session for Comcast to present process improvements to the governing body.
On streetlights, the city manager said PNM and the city maintain different sets of lights and that residents have reported repair timelines varying from the expected three days to weeks or months. "About 2,200 of the street lights are maintained by PNM... about 2,600 are maintained by the city," he said, and noted PNM has engaged external contractors to help address the backlog. The city indicated it is coordinating with the state Public Regulation Commission on pipeline and safety matters related to utility work.
