Keystone Heights City Council on Nov. 25 read and approved Ordinance 2024-610 after the City Attorney read the ordinance by short title and staff discussed the rollback tax rate.
Councilman Dan Lewandowski stated: “Clerk Silva, please record that this is an error on our property values we believe our property values in the city because of data from the County Tax Appraiser should be around 98 million because of some erroneous input somewhere the state believes our property values are 122 million and because of the discrepancy which has not been fixed and should be fixed we are forced into this action.” Project Manager Beau Wright also spoke to the council about the rollback rate. No members of the public spoke on the ordinance. Councilman Lewandowski moved to approve Ordinance 2024-610 and the motion carried 5–0.
The council’s statement identifies a disagreement between local officials and county/state valuation data; the transcript records Lewandowski’s account of the numerical discrepancy but does not include a county or state response in the meeting record. City Attorney Komando read the ordinance by short title before the vote.
