The Tisbury Board of Health granted a six-month extension for installation of the IA component of an upgraded septic system at 100 Hazelwood Avenue, a six-bedroom rental with nine year-round occupants. Health Agent Drew Belsky reported the leaching field has already been replaced and that the outstanding IA component remains; he also noted the owner's serious health diagnosis and decline.
Board members expressed concern that prior system failure may have resulted from renter misuse (such as grease buildup) and said the IA component would not prevent misuse-related failure. The Board nonetheless approved a time-limited extension (effective from September 25, 2026) with a mandated follow-up check-in before the extension expires, rather than granting an open-ended waiver.
