The Laconia School District school board approved a set of routine and personnel items at its July 14 meeting and directed further review of the Laconia High School program of studies.
The board unanimously approved a scoreboard donation from the Lou Thanos basketball league valued at $10,960. Chair said the district expects no additional installation cost because facilities reported the same system would be used. The board also approved the athletic handbook and policy JFABD, each by voice vote of 7-0. The Elm Street Elementary school nurse nomination and the appointment of Regina Sargent as school board clerk were also approved, both by 7-0 votes.
In personnel actions, the board approved the nomination of a Pleasant Street School grade-2 teacher and later, after a nonpublic session, granted a teacher’s request to be released from a 2026–27 contract. Each personnel motion carried on voice votes recorded as unanimous. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn approved at 7:17 p.m.
While several items passed without extended debate, members agreed that the Laconia High School program of studies required additional committee work and a clearer timeline before final board approval. The board asked the policy subcommittee to draft revisions and indicated a special meeting may be scheduled to consider the document once subcommittee recommendations are available.
