On Oct. 1, 2025 the Planning & Zoning Board voted unanimously to recommend approval of Ordinance 2025-17, which amends Chapter 23, Article 6, Section 23.6-1(p) — "Penalties for tree abuse and removal without a permit." The amendment reorders and clarifies the existing text to make the process clearer to customers; staff emphasized that fees are not changing.
Principal Planner Annie Greening explained the rewording and re-ordering is intended to improve comprehension for the public and applicants. Board Attorney Elizabeth Lenihan clarified the ordinance "does not change anything with regard to Florida Statutes." Board member Henry Pawski moved to recommend approval; Mark Humm seconded and the motion passed with a unanimous vote. The Board recorded no additional conditions or amendments to the ordinance at the meeting.
