The Public Site and Building Commission and the board of selectmen agreed the town should proceed with a 2‑ply modified‑bitumen roof material for Bethel High School and asked the project designer to finalize the design and bid specifications.
A staff presenter told the commission that the selectmen "concurred that it made sense to use the most durable material on the roof" even though it is more expensive. The commission asked staff to notify Silver Petrucelli to proceed with final design and to prepare bid specs for the work.
Members discussed project administration and risk: they recommended identifying an owner's representative and setting an owner's contingency to oversee construction and cover unforeseen costs when bids come in. Committee members also flagged potential insurance impacts under the town's Kerma policy and said they would confirm whether particular costs might be eligible for state reimbursement.
Staff said the designer will proceed with final documents and that the commission will receive timeline confirmation from Silver Petrucelli when available.
