Softball field construction under way; district aims for Feb. 1 completion

Jim (speaker 7) told the board the softball field project began site clearing and grading last week and started grading this week; some mechanical and plumbing contractor paperwork caused minor delays but the team is working through them. He said the project is aiming for a February 1 completion date and added, "so we'd hopefully play on that field this spring."
Board members asked whether rebidding would be required for added scope; Jim said the extra work falls under a $30,000 bid threshold and had been bid out, so the overall project numbers should not change. The superintendent confirmed the district will not tear down the old field until the new one is ready.
