Mountainside approves modification to Union County cooperative agreement for housing and homelessness programs

Council approved Resolution 92 authorizing the mayor and municipal clerk to execute an amended cooperative agreement with Union County to update fiscal-year 2026-2027 descriptions for the Union County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, the HOME Investment Partnerships Program and the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) Program. The resolution states these federal programs are allocated to prevent homelessness and help individuals and families move toward independent living.
The mayor said it is in the borough’s interest to cooperate with Union County on community development activities. The measure was moved, seconded and approved by roll call. The resolution authorizes the mayor and municipal clerk to execute the cooperative agreement in accordance with law, enabling Mountainside to be part of the county-administered allocation and programming for these state and federal funds.
