The commission's finance report at the July 20 meeting stated that the commission's account contains $960.90, money raised through donations and event activities. "The commission has $960.90 in the bank," the presiding officer said.
Members noted the account is a small-business checking account and that a roughly $3 monthly service charge is being assessed for low activity. The chair recommended staff check with finance officer Jim David to determine whether the account is set up properly and whether moving funds to a different financial institution would eliminate the fee. "It's just a matter how you want to do it — we can leave it alone — but that's eating away at $3 a month," he said. Commissioners agreed to investigate and bring the matter back to the next meeting.
