The mayor and staff said provisions in recent transit-authority reforms would create a reliable new funding stream for emergency medical reimbursement beginning in 2027.
"There's no ambiguity, among the leadership that Forest Park has to re be reimbursed for medical expenses," the mayor said after attending a regional transition meeting. Staff and representatives from neighboring departments (Rosemont, Oak Park, River Forest) are working on a regional billing system and documentation that the mayor said is already circulating.
Councilors noted the need to coordinate operational and billing systems and asked staff to keep the council updated as reimbursement mechanisms are finalized.
