Staff: proposed data center would use electricity for cooling, not water

Board members asked whether a proposed data center in the industrial park would draw significant amounts of water for cooling. Staff responded that the facility does not use water-based cooling for servers and that any on-site water use would be limited to restrooms and the small office area. "They don't use any internally cooling. That's all electricity," a staff member said.
The board noted the distinction because of ongoing wastewater and utility capacity discussions; staff said the data-center site has a main water connection for restroom use and that overall water demand from the facility is expected to be minimal compared with industrial operations discussed elsewhere in the meeting.
