Utility department staff reported a series of maintenance and emergency-preparedness actions. Crews installed a new solenoid valve and a replacement vacuum pump motor at the east lift station, ordered a replacement motor from Smith & Loveless, and repaired a sewer line at 518 S. Huston.
Staff also assisted KMEA with replacing three 3-phase electric poles and one single-phase pole, restocked the bucket truck, moved the new trash truck into heated storage, replaced plow lighting, and installed insulation in meter pits known to freeze. These steps were recorded as part of the city’s preparations for the cold spell known as winter storm "Fern."
