Altamont fire and police departments report activity, training and incident counts

The Altamont Fire Department reported 1 meeting, 1 fire/smoke alarm, 3 medical calls, 1 structure fire and 1 grass fire during the reporting period and said a 2025 response-year recap will be presented at the next meeting. As of the report all but two members have completed NIMS 700 and ICS 100 certification; the remaining two are in process, which the minutes note is required for department participation in incident command and grant reporting.
Chief Michael Shields submitted the police report noting numerous calls including animal control, civil standbys, lake patrol and safety checks. The minutes list warnings (example: 16 speed warnings) and citations by type (examples: 3 speed citations, 2 improper turn citations) and KBI reports including 2 possession of marijuana, 2 possession of drug paraphernalia and 2 theft reports. The minutes note there were no issues during the Christmas or New Year holidays.
