Lt. Christian Powell reported the police department handled animal control, civil standbys, child exchanges, lake patrol and safety checks during the reporting period. Officers issued 12 warnings (3 for speed, 5 for equipment violations and 4 for running stop signs) and 7 citations (4 for speed, 1 for possession of tobacco products, 2 for equipment violations). Two KBI reports for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were filed. Lt. Powell also noted seat belt enforcement scheduled for Nov. 22–29.
Utility staff described a range of maintenance tasks: removal of a tree near electric at 301 E. 9th; ordering and collecting road-closure signs from Ottawa to save shipping costs; picking up concrete barricades; calling in locates; conducting a pre-construction meeting for Brightspeed fiber installation; disconnecting and re-energizing electric service at 100 S. Oak for an upgrade; replacing meters; and repairing a solenoid valve on a vacuum pump at the east lift station. The utility and police reports were submitted as part of routine departmental reporting.
