Parents praise SHAC reports, urge district action on e‑bikes and suicide prevention

"We sent multiple surveys to parents, staff members, and students...and we produced 5 detailed reports and recommendations for this board," Hunter said, summarizing the council's work.
Tricia Monticello Keithlin, who chaired SHAC's student‑physical‑health subcommittee, outlined a spring survey (March 2–20) that drew more than 100 responses from crossing guards, principals and parents and recommended a district education campaign, promotion of existing CISD police bike safety programs, and a policy allowing individual campuses to make localized decisions about micro‑mobility devices depending on traffic conditions. "Now it's time for Conroe ISD to join the team of local leaders who are taking this issue seriously," she said.
Board members acknowledged receipt of the SHAC annual report and described steps already underway: a change to address motorized devices in the student code of conduct and planned safety and prevention videos developed with local partners. District staff said the recommendations will be reviewed for possible implementation. The board received the SHAC report (no vote required) and directed staff to continue follow‑up on suicide‑prevention measures and e‑bike guidance.
