County Executive's Office says it is ready to train staff if immigrant protections bill passes

Luisa Cardona, Assistant Chief Administrative Officer for the County Executive's Office, told the joint committees the executive branch "is supportive" of the Promoting Community Trust and Immigrant Protection Act and said the administration will prepare to implement the changes if the council approves the bill. "We are ready, to train and update all of the training for county staff including pocket guides and signage in order to comply with any of the changes," she said.
Cardona said the executive office believes the legislation "codifies what is existing practice" and that departments will be trained and updated so staff are prepared when situations arise. Her remarks were given after staff explained the measure and before the committees took votes to approve technical amendments and to recommend the bill to the full council.
