The plan also retains a recommendation for a new interchange with I‑270 at Little Seneca Parkway extended to serve the southern plan area. If a full movement interchange is not feasible, the plan suggests considering a limited‑movement interchange or a separated bridge and includes design guidance to minimize wetland and park impacts and preserve wildlife crossings. Staff said the interchange was retained because anticipated development—especially on the COMSAT site—could otherwise increase congestion on the existing network.
Committee members had no further questions on the alignment and moved on to discussion of interim lane treatments and active‑transportation items.
