Board authorizes schematic design and hires architects for new elementary school

The Belle Vernon Area School District board on July 21 authorized administration to proceed with schematic design for a proposed new elementary school and approved related professional services agreements. Staff presented the recommendation and the board voted to move the project into the schematic design phase; the motion passed on a recorded vote noted in the meeting as 5–1.

Board members approved an AIA agreement with SiteLogic and a separate contract with Core Architects for professional services associated with the project, both contingent on final review by the district solicitor. The board also appointed Gibson-Thomas as the project engineer and approved the firm's fee schedule. "These are pending my final review," the solicitor said when a board member asked for confirmation that documents would undergo legal review.
