Mrs. Libby told the board that the Indiana Department of Education awarded Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program grants to two district schools for the 2026-27 year: Covington will receive $46,006.24 and Whispering Meadows will receive $31,930, for a combined total of $78,554. The funds will support offering fruits and vegetables during instructional blocks outside regular meal service to expand students’ exposure to healthy foods.
Board members welcomed the awards. The item was presented as informational and approved by voice vote later in the meeting when the consent/agenda items were finalized.
