Dr. Eric Dysinger, an assistant principal and finalist for Sodus Intermediate principal, told a candidate night audience that his first priority would be to create conditions “where students, staff, and families can thrive.” He presented a 90‑day plan built around listening, collaboration and targeted action.
Dysinger said the first 30 days would be devoted to observation and listening — visiting classrooms, meeting staff and families, and reviewing student achievement data — followed by collaboration to set shared priorities and then implementation. “Leadership is about creating conditions where students, staff, and families can thrive,” he said. He identified three guiding priorities for decisions: improving student success, strengthening school culture, and building authentic family partnerships.
On instruction, Dysinger emphasized strong tier‑1 practices, common formative assessments and timely progress monitoring so staff can respond quickly to student needs. He framed MTSS (multi‑tiered systems of support) as essential and said his doctoral work on differentiated instruction informs his approach to using data to guide practice. Dysinger also described concrete engagement ideas — from bringing community partners into events to targeted outreach to families — intended to increase turnout and connection.
The candidate night is part of a Sodus Central School District process that will collect feedback forms from attendees and share recordings with the district’s incoming superintendent before final interviews. The school district will use that feedback alongside the superintendent’s review to determine next steps in the hiring process.
