The Village of Glenwood Board of Trustees voted July 21 to amend the building code to increase the maximum residential fence height from 4 feet to 6 feet.
The attorney explained the change in Ordinance 2026-018 is intended to align the code with a common community practice: "This proposed ordinance changes the maximum fence height from 4 to 6 feet," the attorney said. Trustees discussed that many properties already have 6-foot fences and that the amendment avoids putting residents at risk of fines or enforcement against currently installed fences. The measure passed following a motion, second and roll-call vote.
Trustees said the amendment is intended to make enforcement orderly and avoid penalizing residents with existing 6-foot fences; the ordinance was approved during the meeting and recorded by the clerk.
