City Clerk John Farrell reported that a member of the city maintenance crew damaged a cemetery headstone while mowing. On a motion by Alderman Sean Langston and a second by Alderman Cecil Shehorn, the board voted unanimously to pay Wommack Monument Company $1,897 to replace the headstone.
Farrell also reported donations toward the fireworks display (transcript contains an apparent typographical amount reference that was unclear in the minutes). The board’s action on the headstone is a payment to a vendor to restore cemetery property damaged during municipal maintenance activities.
