Council authorizes towing bid packet review and release

The Scott City Council voted July 6 to accept a draft towing bid packet and to authorize staff to issue the solicitation. Mayor Rick Brashear and staff said the packet had been drafted with input from Police Chief Chris Griggs, Fire Chief Shawn Jackson and City Attorney Mary Eftink-Boner.
"The bid packet is standard for towing," City Administrator Dustin Whitworth told council. Council Member Victor Phillips moved to accept the draft and place the bid; Council Member Heather Ingvalson seconded the motion and the minutes record that the motion carried with no opposition. The City Attorney and department heads will finalize the packet and staff will advertise according to procurement rules.
The action does not obligate the city to a contract; it authorizes soliciting bids. Police and fire chiefs were present during the discussion and indicated the draft incorporated their operational and safety concerns.
