Council approves purchase of full-size message board for sanitary sewer project
Summary
Public Works requested purchase of a full-size message board for the sanitary sewer (Highway 1416) project after rentals proved costly; council approved the quote and authorized the mayor to execute documents, with the cost charged to the project and the board becoming a public-works asset.

City Engineer Scott Lang explained staff initially planned to rent message boards for the 1416 sanitary sewer project but found rental units cost about $4,500 apiece. Lang said the city has been using smaller Public Works and Police Department boards but needs one full-size board and that purchasing it and charging the cost to the project is justifiable: "So we're saving $15,000 on 1 board, and we're just we're gonna get 1 board," Lang said.
A motion to accept the quote from the vendor listed in the transcript ("Street Smart Rentals LLC," transcript) for a "PCM PCMS-1500 full size message board" and to authorize the mayor to sign associated documents was made and seconded. The council approved the purchase by unanimous roll call; the transcript records the amount in a garbled form ("in the amount of 24,000 to $920"), so official contract documents should be checked for the exact dollar amount before payment.
