City Engineer Scott Lang told the council the rezoning is to convert agricultural land to Residential 2 for the next phase of the Alpha Omega Subdivision and that streets, water and sewer infrastructure are already in place. "This is a rezone from ag to residential 2 for the next phase of Alpha Omega," Lang said, and staff recommended approval as the proposal fits the city's land-use plan.
Council moved and seconded the ordinance on first reading and then approved it by roll call. The council then approved the final plat for Alpha Omega Phase 1C; Scott Lang said there are "no unresolved issues" and staff recommended approval. The final-plat approval includes a condition that the city engineer must accept a surety bond or infrastructure acceptance before any building permits are issued.
The actions taken carry the force of the council's ordinary approvals for subdivision and zoning steps; no public comments or emails were submitted during the public hearing on the rezoning. The council's vote was recorded as unanimous on the roll call.
