Board opts to keep 501(c)(3) separate; Tract K donation and $30,000 offer pending

Rebecca Harris presented a memo Oct. 10 discussing whether WSDM should manage the district-affiliated 501(c)(3). Harris told the board WSDM’s standard district-management proposal did not include management of the nonprofit but said she could offer bookkeeping and management services "for a not to exceed $1,000 a month." After discussion the board decided to keep the 501(c)(3) separate from WSDM management and to recruit volunteers to assist with the nonprofit’s administration.
Director Christian M. Warren confirmed Mr. Flavin and his attorney are prepared to donate a parcel described as Tract K along with $30,000 to the 501(c)(3), but the donation and transfer await confirmation. The board said it will re-address the nonprofit’s management once the district receives an IRS determination letter regarding the 501(c)(3)’s status.
