During public comments and communications the board heard several community updates. Lea Nagy reported that National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) family support groups in Eureka and Southern Humboldt "are going well" and that NAMI has been applying for grants for advocacy trainings and schools.
Board members also noted community events: Bob Dougherty said Nations Finest will have a booth at Friday Night Markets in Eureka; Jess Weaver and Rosemary Shultz described a TAY photography retreat and a public reception scheduled this Friday from 2:00–5:00 p.m., with a presence at the Friday Night Market from 5:00–8:30 p.m.
