CICA update: Central Valley lobbying and AB2037 wildfire mitigation grant discussed

Margaret Lewis briefed the board on California In‑Home Supportive Services Consumer Alliance activity and regional advocacy. Lewis said Central Valley CICA members are rallying and lobbying lawmakers in response to State Budget revision proposals and that other bills, including AB2037 (a wildfire mitigation grant focused on defensible‑space work, emergency communication systems, accessible transportation, and personal preparedness training for older adults and people with disabilities), were discussed.
The board recorded discussion about paying additional CICA dues and noted an open seat for one more Humboldt County member on the regional board. Members approved using unspent fiscal year funds in perpetuity for additional CICA dues later in the meeting by roll call vote.
