Residents and council raise traffic and speed concerns as summer tourism increases
Summary
Councilmembers and public commenters reported increased traffic and speeding in neighborhood streets and downtown areas during tourist season; council heard a public comment about safety on St Mary’s Street and an alley.
During 'Good of the Order' and public comment, Councilmember Smith said tourist season has begun and reported increased traffic and higher speeds on S Shore. Local resident Bill Crackel told the council that traffic and speed have increased on St Mary’s Street and in the alley.
Councilmember Chava Bahle thanked staff, praised improvements at Waterwheel Park and commended the council for civility at meetings. The meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m., with minutes prepared by Village Clerk Dorothy Petroskey.
