Secretary Emaniawi noted the number and framed the impact: "We're we're zooming in on about 380 to 390 of Albany students that will be eligible," she said, asking the board to consider city communications to reach families who might not know they must re-register.
Board member Savage suggested the district determine whether registration is at roughly 75–80% of the expected response and, if not, take "extraordinary measures" to reach families in the remaining 10 days. Trustees discussed confusion that could arise because some charter students and families assume bus service is continuous and might not reapply; staff said families with IEPs or 504 plans remain automatically eligible and do not need to complete the application.
District staff also announced free physicals for student-athletes and multiple registration and tryout dates for fall sports; the board encouraged targeted communications and repeated notices to avoid last-minute crunches.
