Council approves Well 4 generator change order and closes out Well 10 with small deduction

Council approved a $47,344 change order for the Well 4 standby generator project (bringing the total to $313,682) to install copper secondary cable and related upgrades, and approved a $2,556.50 deduction to close out the Well 10 site grading and foundation project.
City engineer Scott Lang presented two water-utility contract adjustments. For Well 4, Lang said the city is converting the well to medium voltage and recommended a change order to install copper secondary cable from the transformer to the automatic transfer switch and to upgrade cable between the generator and the transfer switch. The change order increased the project by $47,344 to a total estimated cost of $313,682. Council member Davis moved, Schubert seconded, a roll-call vote was taken and the motion passed.
Lang also presented a closeout change order for the Well 10 site grading and wellhouse foundation project that eliminated a landscaping bid item. The elimination produced a deduction of $2,556.50 and a revised total project cost of $157,953.50. The council voted to approve that change order as well.
Lang said copper was the preferred material for a water-production facility and staff were comfortable with the pricing received. Both change orders were presented as standard contract adjustments during project closeout and execution.
