Planner Michelle Clavadocher presented an annual fireworks-sales license application for Big Fireworks LLC at 4501 South I-90 Service Road. She explained that annual license holders may sell wholesale year-round and retail during defined state periods (May 1'Aug 31, and Dec 26'Jan 2) and that the license term runs through April 30 of the following year. The applicant has operated at that location for the past ten years, staff said.
Commissioners asked for clarification on insurance minima. Clavadocher said the city requires a minimum total of $2,000,000 in coverage (with per-occurrence and excess layers reviewed previously by the city attorney). Staff recommended approval; the commission moved, seconded and approved the recommendation to recommend council approval.
