Planning Commission OKs All American Sales’ annual fireworks license, requires building inspection first

The City of Box Elder Planning Commission voted May 13 to approve an annual fireworks sales license for All American Sales Inc., authorizing retail sales during the city’s permitted seasonal windows but conditioning final issuance on a city building code compliance inspection.

Michelle Clavadach, the city planner, summarized the application and staff review. “This is an application for the tan building with the red roof out there on the South I‑90 Service Road,” Clavadach said, adding that the property was recently annexed and that the business had sold fireworks from that address for several years. She told commissioners the application met the licensing requirements and that “a building code compliance inspection by the City of Box Elder … is required before that license is issued.” The planner also noted that state fireworks licenses are required in addition to the city permit.

Commissioners asked a few procedural questions about inspection timing and noted the applicant intended to begin operations on or around June 10. A motion to approve the license with the inspection condition passed on a roll-call vote with all present commissioners voting yes.

The approval allows the licensee to sell fireworks at wholesale year-round and at retail during the municipal retail windows (May 1–Aug. 31 and Dec. 26–Jan. 2), subject to proof of the required building-code compliance inspection before the city issues the license. The commission did not add further operational conditions at the meeting; staff will withhold issuance until the inspection is completed.
